The S-5BD features a highly accurate mechanism newly developed for Denon’s high-end Blu-ray disc player, impeccable craftsmanship and engineering that have for many years featured in Denon’s audio and home theatre systems, and other state-of-the-art technologies that provide uncompromising support for exceptional HD audio and video playback quality. An advanced intelligent system automatically detects the number and characteristics of speakers in your setup to achieve optimum performance for the acoustics of your room whether you are using a 2.1-channel or a 5.1-channel speaker system. This single S-5BD component ensures you experience total enjoyment from pure stereo playback to full-fledged cinematic sound. Another important feature of the S-5BD is its ability to become an Audiophile Quality Smart System that not only lets you connect an iPod or USB memory player to listen to tracks from those devices but also provides plug-‘n’-play features, intuitive operation via a GUI, and automatic selection of a surround mode that matches the source being played.

- AL24 Processing: Analog waveform reproduction technology AL24 Processing interpolates signals that have been lost when the source was recorded as digital data and reproduces the original analog waveform. By producing an analog waveform that is as close as possible to the one that existed when the digital recording was made, it is possible to enjoy the realism of a concert hall, for instance, where the music contains reverberations and other delicate details.
- Compressed Audio Restorer, to enhance digital music files During playback of compressed audio sources such as WMA and MP3, Compressed Audio Restorer interpolates data that has been lost during compression in order to restore the original condition as closely as possible and correct the sense of volume in the low range. When these audio files are played through the S-5BD, it is possible to enjoy a quality of sound that is very close to the original prior to compression.
